Water Supply System Feasibility Study and Implementation

Penn E&R was retained by a confidential manufacturing client to complete a detailed water supply feasibility study for a facility located in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.  The site, which manufactures asphalt, water-based sealants and coatings used for paving, looked to permanently close-in-place two on-site water supply wells and develop a new system to supply approximately 10,000 to 20,000 gallons of water to the facility over a two-hour period.  Penn E&R was selected based on its past success completing similar feasibility studies, engineering and construction projects.

Created decision matrix to assess each alternative’s benefits and limitations in order to identify key tradeoffs

Researched provision of water via three main sources:

Public water supply via Pennsylvania American Water

Fresh water intake from Susquehanna River

Bulk water supply delivered to site via railway

Prepared comprehensive Summary Report of Findings including a ranking of the alternatives based on the decision matrix analysis and provided recommendation

Penn E&R was also retained by the client and successfully implemented the suggested alternative for the facility’s water supply system.
