Location: Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania
The Frackville Substation Expansion Project in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, PA involved the expansion of an existing substation yard that was unable to be taken offline. Because of this, a new yard needed to be construction on a steep hillside adjacent to the existing yard, which involved the import of over 100,000 cubic yards of material to construct a level pad of roughly 8 acres. The project required an individual NPDES permit and Joint Permit Application for a Pennsylvania Water Obstruction and Encroachment Permit application and a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 Permit Application. Penn E&R completed all preliminary land planning engineering, site assessment and permit applications for this entire project as well as all construction management & oversight.
